HB1074 states that local health departments may establish overdose and suicide fatality review teams to identify preventable causes of mortality and develop strategies for the prevention of fatalities due to overdose and suicide.
The department shall assist local health departments to collect relevant data from all relevant agencies. All health care information collected as part of an overdose or suicide fatality review is confidential. When documents are collected as part of an overdose or suicide fatality review, the records may be used solely by local health departments for the purposes of the review, and cannot be used as evidence in any civil or criminal action.
However, local health departments may publish statistical compilations and reports related to information gathered through the overdose or suicide fatality review if information that that identifies individual cases is redacted.
