HB1183 creates a home sharing support grant program which will provide financial support to non-profit organizations that assist homeless persons, or persons at risk of becoming homeless, locate housing options through individuals who opt to share their residence with persons in need, on mutually agreeable terms.

Services provided by home sharing programs may include, but are not limited to screening of program applicants for compatibility, background checks of applicants, and case management and conflict resolution services.

A surcharge for each recorded document will create revenue to fund the home sharing support grant program.
