HB 1628 would eliminate academic and nonacademic barriers for students in foster care by establishing a system where the student would receive partial credit for courses and course work completed before the date of withdrawal or transfer. These credits would be applied to the student’s academic progress and/or graduation, regardless of date of enrollment. The office of the superintendent of public instruction would be responsible for implementing the proposed changes.
