HB1825 authorizes the department of social and health services to complete a family assessment response upon the verbal agreement , as opposed to written consent, of a parent to participate and extends the timeline for completing a family assessment response to 90 days, with the ability to extend the period for services essential to reducing risk of harm to the child and improving or restoring family well-being. The bill also addresses a criminal offense that is within the categories of disqualifying crimes described in the adoption and safe families act of 1997.

Amendment: Extends the time limit to 120 days for which the family assessment response period may be extended for services essential to reducing risk of harm to the child and improving or restoring family well being.
