This bill will create a grant program for eligible organizations to address maternal health conditions and substance abuse disorders for pregnant and postpartum individuals. The focus for these grants will be on racial and ethnic minority groups. Programs would establish or expand maternity care programs, group prenatal or postpartum care programs, mental and behavioral health programs, services for pregnant individuals with substance use disorders, awareness programs, and education and training to maternity care providers regarding warning signs for health conditions/substance use disorders. Education and training will have a focus on individuals from racial and ethnic minority groups. The bill will also establish grant program to work towards diversitying the maternal mental and behavioral health care workforce.
