SB5097 expands job protection and health benefits to any employee who has been on the job for 90 days, instead of 12 months, and regardless of how many people are employed. The taking of leave under this title may not result in the loss of any employment benefits accrued before the date on which the leave commenced.

The definition of family member is modified to: 

  • “Family member,” means any individual related by blood or affinity whose close association with a covered individual is the equivalent of a family member and includes a child, grandchild, grandparent, parent, sibling, or spouse
