Information may be collected from health care facilities about why persons in crisis are denied admission when there is capacity available.

Opportunities for outlined for ways Managed Care Organizations and Behavioral Health Administrative Services Organizations may support placement efforts for persons in crisis. This includes provisions for how these organizations can coordinate with others within the 24 hold period.

Evaluation and treatment facilities and secure withdrawal management and stabilization facilities are supported by ensuring they have access to resources necessary to treat persons with co-occurring disorders.

Effective July 2021, an evaluation and treatment facility must provide medically necessary substance use disorder services.
