HB 1073: Expanding coverage of the paid family and medical leave program

HB1073 expands coverage of the Paid Family and Medical Leave Program and therefore make the program more equitable, especially for many Black, brown, immigrant, and low-wage workers. Employees will now be eligible for family and medical leave benefits as provided in this title after they have earned at least $1,000 in the previous year. The definition of family will include those with a close association equivalent to family.

HB1073 will expand job protection and health benefits to any employee who has been on the job for 90 days. The taking of leave under this title may not result in the loss of any employment benefits accrued before the date on which the leave commenced.
