HB 1197: Concerning respite services for caregivers of people with mental illness

HB 1197 would amend current statute around mental illness to include a section on providing respite services for caregivers of people with mental illness. This bill directs the Department of Social and Health Services to: (1) by October 1, 2017, establish three pilot projects to offer respite services to primary caregivers of people with severe mental illness; (2) and submit a report on the results of the pilot projects to the governor and the appropriate committees of the legislature by November 15, 2019. If passed, this new section would expire June 30, 2020.
