HB 1573: Relating to eliminating a program orientation as a condition of eligibility and lessening noncompliance sanctions for the TANF program

HB1573 prohibits DSHS form requiring an applicant for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families to attend an orientation as a condition of eligibility.

The bill also addresses the sanction policy by stating that the recipient must refuse to engage in work and work activities required by the department for 4 consecutive months prior to having the ability to reduce the grant by the recipient’s share and potentially terminating the grant.
