HB 1601: Expanding the students experiencing homelessness and foster youth pilot program

HB 1601 allows for each community and technical college to implement a program providing assistance to students experiencing homelessness who were in the foster care system when they graduated high school. Under previous state law, eight college districts elected by the college board were responsible for participating in this program. HB 1601 strikes language referring to this program as a pilot program. Additionally, the bill eliminates the expiration date of the pilot program and the expiration date of this legislation.
