HB 1728: Relating to creating the parents for parents program

HB 1728 is the companion (same as) SB 5486.

Bill as amended by the ELHS Committee: Changes made to the bill include:

  1. Indicates that the components of the program and the evaluation will occur subject to the availability of funds;
  2. Replaces the definition of “veteran parent” with a definition of “child welfare parent mentor” and expands this definition to include parents whose cases resulted in reunification, or another permanency outcome, and
  3. Removes the requirement that the evaluation be conducted by a University of WA based child welfare research entity, and instead requires that it be conducted by a research entity with experience in child welfare research.
