HB 1834 categorizes mental health absences from schools for mental health reasons as excused absences for health reasons. The bill also states that the Superintendent of Public Instruction will develop and publish guidelines for public schools to implement policies excusing absences for mental health reasons. The Superintendent shall consult with a student advisory group in developing these guidelines.
