HB 1836: Awarding academic scholarships to members of underprivileged or disadvantaged groups

HB 1836 permits state entities that award private fund academic scholarships to use membership in underprivileged or disadvantaged groups as criterion for awarding scholarships. To this end, state entities may consider a scholarship applicant’s race, ethnicity, sex, economic resources, etc., to identify members of underprivileged groups.
