HB 1889: Concerning network access

HB 1889 states that health carriers shall maintain and monitor their health care provider networks on an ongoing basis for compliance with the network access standards adopted by the Insurance Commissioner. Beginning January 1, 2023, the Commissioner shall review and approve carriers’ provider networks prior to use and actively monitor networks for compliance. Additionally, the Commissioner shall approve or deny requests from carriers related to alternative access delivery of services. The Commissioner must also enforce network access standards to verify that networks contain a sufficient number of in-network providers, hospitals, etc.
