HB 2451: Expanding the activities of the children’s mental health services consultation program

Directs the Health Care Authority, to the extent that funds are appropriated, and in collaboration with The Evidence-Based Practice Institute, to implement a program to support primary care providers, obstetricians, pediatricians, mental health professionals, and other health care professionals providing care to pregnant women and new mothers through same-day telephone consultations for assessment, provision of diagnoses, and treatment of maternal depression.

Additionally, the bill includes language requiring the facilitation of referrals to children’s mental health services and other mental health resources for parents and guardians with concerns related to the mental health of the parent or guardian’s child.  The facilitation of activities and assessing necessary services will occur within seven days of the initial call.  Other tasks required of the program are delineated.
