HB 2530: Relating to foster youth health care benefits

Changes the date requiring that behavioral health services must be integrated into the managed health care plan for foster children beginning January 1, 2019.

Added language indicates that the parent or guardian of a child who is no longer a dependent child may choose to continue enrollment in the integrated managed health care plan for foster children for up to 12 months following reunification with the child’s parents or guardian if:

  • the child is under 18
  • the child was in foster care
  • the child meets income and other eligibility standards for medical assistance coverage

The adopted amendment specifies that a parent or guardian may choose to continue a child’s enrollment in the transitional foster care eligibility category of the medical assistance program for foster children
