HB 2865: Informing families of kindergarten readiness standards

By July 2020, the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) must develop a guidelines for families that describe and detail what “kindergarten readiness standards” entail. These guidelines must be made available annually.

By July 15th of each year the OSPI must make the current guidelines available on its public website and must provide an electronic brochure of the guidelines at no cost to state agencies that provide or contract for direct services for parent, caregivers of dependent children in out-of-home care, and guardians of 3 and 4 year olds.  The agencies include:  Dept. of Children, Youth, and Families, Dept. of Social and Health Services, Dept. of Health, and the Health Care Authority.
