HB 2892: Relating to the mental health field response teams programs

When funded, the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs shall develop and implement a mental health field response team grant program. The program will assist local law enforcement agencies in developing and operating mental health field response team capabilities utilizing the expertise of mental health professionals.
Grants will be awarded to two agencies; one from the west side of the state and one to the east of the Cascades.

2892 also directs WSIPP to conduct a study on whether the use of mental health field response improves outcomes of interactions with persons experiencing behavioral health crises.
