HR 1212: Kira Johnson Act

This act will fund grant program to reduce bias, racism, and discrimination trainings for employees in maternity health care settings. It will also provide funding for comunity-based organizations to prevent mortality and morbidity among Black women. The act will also establish care compliance offices within hospitals to provide a way for pregnant and postpartum patients to report incidents of disrespect or discrimination. Finally, the bill will direct the National Academies to study issues related to training programs and the impact of the compliance offices.
