HR 2248: Ending Punitive, Unfair, School-based Harm that is Overt and Unresponsive to Trauma (Ending PUSHOUT) Act

This bill aims to disrupt the school-to-confinement pipeline by investing in programs to create safer and more nurturing school environments, esoecially for girls of color. The bill will establish $2.5 billion in federal grants to support states and school who commit to banning discriminatory discipline practices and improving scchool climates. Additionally, the bill will protect the Civil Rights Data Collection and strengthen the Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights. Finally, the bill will establish a Federal taskforce to end school pushout and examine the disproportionate effects on girls of color.
