The act would establish competitve grant prorams to carry out projects that provide young people with age and developmentally appropriate sex education. Programs should be evidence based and include: education on consent, prevention, treatment, and care of pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections, and interpersonal violence, and education on gender roles and gender discrimination. Programs should also include information on the historical negative impacts of education and health systems on Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian, Asian American and Pacific Islander, and other People of Color. Instructions and materials should also address puberty and adolescent development, sexual and reproductive anatomy, sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression, and safe and healthy relationships.
