S 1010: Turn the Tide Act

This bill would provide $63 billion nationally for substance use disorder treatment and prevention over 10 years. Specifically, the bill would increase State Opioid Response (SOR) treatment grants from $1.5 billion per year to $5.5 billion per year. Additionally, $27.5 billion will be allotted over ten years to the Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Block Grant. Other provisions of the bill include eliminating out-of-pocket costs for Naloxone (a drug that can counter the effects of opioid overdose), increases Medicaid payment rates for medical professional treating patients with substance use disorders, and $10 million to help first responders access mental health and wellness services for themselves.
