S 922: Eliminate the Digital Divide Act of 2021

This bill would provide for $10 billion to be distributed to states to build out broadband infrastructure in unserved areas. This legislation would create a process to deliver funds to states based on their proportion of unserved areas. The bill will also require to Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to update their coverage maps to reflect the Broadband Data Act, allow state and local governments to challenge these maps, and includes a $1 billion high-cost set aside for states where the cost to build broadband infrastructure is more expensive.
