SB 5307: Creating alternatives to total confinement for certain qualifying offenders with minor children

The bill, as passed by the Senate, expands eligibility for participation in a family sentencing alternative program to include offenders who are convicted of nonviolent offenses, offenders who are assessed at a low or moderate risk to reoffend, and offenders who are subject to a deportation detainer.

5307 also expands the types of parental relationships that qualify for participation in a family sentencing alternative program to include informal parenting relationships.
