SB 5700: Concerning the release of juveniles in the custody of juvenile rehabilitation

This act amends RCW 13.40.210 to require the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) to work with each person in its custody, and the family of any juvenile under the age of 18, to establish a safe release plan into safe and stable housing, in accordance with state policy established by RCW 43.330.720.

If the secretary is unable to establish a safe release, they may provide rental vouchers to the person in custody for up to 6 months, in conjunction with additional transition support programming or services including:

§  Substance use disorder treatment;

§  Mental health treatment;

§  Sex offender treatment;

§  Educational programming; or

Employment programming.
