SB 6195: Relating to basic education obligations; creating new sections

SB 6195 would establish an education funding task force to make recommendations to the legislature on implementing the requirements of basic education. Utilizing data provided by the Washington Institute for Public Policy, the task force would make recommendations for compensation for basic education staff. Additionally, the bill would make recommendations on how to achieve sufficient classroom facilities to accommodate K-3 class size reduction. The bill also would mandate legislative action by the end of the 2017 legislative session to eliminate school district dependency on local levies for funding basic education.
