SB 6255: Supporting access to child care for parents who are attending high school or working toward completion of a high school equivalency certificate

Access to childcare will be supported for parents who are attending high school or working toward completion of a high school equivalency certificate.

School districts may allow a student to transport their infant, in car seat, on a school bus provided by the district. School districts that deny a student’s request must provide an alternative.

Amendment:

Changes the deadline for the Washington State School Directors’ Association to develop a model policy and procedure that supports pregnant students and parenting students from September  2020, to March 2021.
