SB 6387, effective July 1, 2018, exempts the dissemination of recordings of a child’s voice and image when describing the highly sensitive details of abuse or neglect to protect the privacy of the child.

The recordings of a child interview are exempt from disclosure under the public records act, except by court order upon a showing of good cause and only with advance notice to the child’s guardian.

“Child forensic interview” is defined as a developmentally sensitive and legally sound method of gathering factual information regarding allegations of abuse or exposure to violence conducted by a trained professional.
