SHB 1860: Preventing homelessness among persons discharging from inpatient behavioral health settings

SHB 1860 states that Washington State Health Care Authority contracts with managed care organizations must include a requirement to provide housing-related care coordination services to people being discharged from inpatient behavioral health settings. Requires the psychiatric hospitals to inform the Health Care Authority and the managed care organization of a planned discharge. The bill also states that the Authority’s Performance Measures Coordinating Committee must establish performance measures tracking rates of housing instability and homelessness among people who have exited inpatient behavioral health services.
