SHB 2082: Assessing child care access

SHB 2082 states that the Department of Children, Youth, and Families shall conduct a statewide assessment of child care deserts with a focus on families of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This statewide assessment must identify areas with the highest needs related to child care accessibility, affordability, and availability; describe the current capacity of child care providers, provide recommendations for assisting families with children with intellectual and developmental disabilities in accessing child care, etc. DCYF must partner with the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction, in addition to the Developmental Disability Ombuds, to review the statewide assessment and make recommendations.

Amendment:

Requires DCYF to partner with the Developmental Disabilities Council, rather than the DD Ombuds, to review the statewide assessment and make recommendations.
