This act will amend the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA) to direct the Secretary of Health and Human Services to conduct research to protect LGBTQ youth from child abuse and neglect and to improve the well-being of victims. Additionally, it will expand the collection of demographic information to include sexual orientation and gender identity when reporting incidences and prevalance of child maltreatment, open grant funding opportunities to train personnel in best practices to meet the needs of LGBTQ youth, and include individuals experienced in working with LGBTQ youth and families in state task forces.
