*Companion to HB 1136*

Among a number of other provisions, the bill proposes a pilot program for persons who are gravely disabled that would provide individualized treatment, supervision, and appropriate placement to support success transition to the community.

The bill also clarifies definitions for “gravely disabled” and “incapacitated” persons, as well as determinations for grave disabilities and guardianship requirements.

The pilot program entails the development of a treatment plan within ten days of guardianship of the incapacitated person, and regulations regarding appropriate placement in “suitable facilities,” which are less restrictive residential treatments.
