The study tests and examines the relationships between parental incarceration, social advantage, parent mental and physical health, and effective parenting as they relate to youth antisocial behavior, showing that the relationship between parental incarceration and youth antisocial behaviors is decreased by increases in the other factors. This explains many of the differences in antisocial behavior among children of incarcerated parents.
