Quality Improvement Center on Engaging Youth in Finding Permanency (QIC-EY)

In 2021, P4C researchers launched the Quality Improvement Center on Engaging Youth in Finding Permanency (QIC-EY).  The QIC-EY is a five year program that includes workforce training and coaching and developing/promoting youth engagement interventions. The expectation is that it will bring about systemic changes in how children and youth are authentically engaged. The QIC-EY will be implemented in six to eight pilot sites. 

The QIC-EY intends to change the mindsets of child welfare professionals and court personnel in order for youth to be recognized as competent, knowledgeable parties who deserve to have input and decision-making power about their lives. In the first year of the project, P4C staff completed an environmental scan, which included a systematic literature review to understand the most important characteristics and competencies of youth engagement workers; a series of interviews with people with lived expertise in the child welfare system, child welfare workers, and court personnel; a Delphi review; and a survey of state child welfare administrators.

On the products page, there is an overview of the QIC-EY Environmental Scan of which all new products are all part.  Each new product has been summarized with highlights, take-aways, and suggestions for how professionals can use these products right now.  Each summary then leads folks to the full reports.
