HB1954 recognizes that the number of marriage and family therapists is inadequate to meet the demand for services and as a result grants reciprocity to therapists that have been licensed in the state, territories, or possessions of the United States or District of Columbia.

Further, the bill states that an applicant seeking a marriage and family therapist license may be licensed to practice in this state without examination if the applicant holds a current unrestricted license to practice in any state, territory, or possession of the US, or the District of Columbia.
