Some of the components of the bill include:
The Tribal Behavioral Health System in this state shall be improved. Tribal health care providers who have community behavioral health programs are authorized to receive grants. “Behavioral health aide” are defined are certified professionals who help address individual and community-based behavioral health needs. Within the boundaries of the tribe, tribes shall have jurisdiction as to any involuntary commitment to an evaluation and treatment facility. Tribal court orders for involuntary commitment shall be recognized and enforced.
Designated crisis responders shall notify the tribe or Indian health care provider regarding whether or not a petition for initial detention or involuntary outpatient treatment will be filed. The authority shall provide a report on psychiatric treatment and evaluation and bed utilization for
