The Immediate Coverage for Former Foster Youth Act will make youth eligible for extended Medicaid coverage if they turn 18 on or after the Act’s passage, rather than waiting until 2023. Current law under the SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act states that foster youth who turn 18 on or after January 1, 2023 will be eligible for Medicaid enrollment until they are 26 years old. The act also establishes an outreach program by January 2022 to reach youth who may be eligible under the law but are not enrolled in Medicaid coverage.
