SB 6439 requires the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction, by Dec. 31, 2014, to develop a statewide training class for those people in each school district who act as the primary contact regarding the anti-harassment, intimidation, or bullying policy. The training class must be offered on an annual basis by educational service districts in collaboration with the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction. The training class must be based on the current model policy as provided in current legislation and also include materials related to hazing.

The bill amends the definition of “harassment, intimidation, or bullying” to include intentional electronic, written, verbal, or physical act of bullying that physically or emotionally harms a student.
