LAURA ORLANDO

RESEARCH SCIENTIST

Laura works with the Department of Children, Youth and Families in WA state and beyond to develop innovative practice improvements to support family reunification. She brings years of experience in parenting interventions, program development, and evaluation. More recently, she completed a certificate in instructional design and now spend her time designing eLearning for family time supervisors and parents.  As the Strive Project Director, Laura is passionate about creating training aimed at improving family time services that support families in this context.

Early in her career, Laura worked for several Head Start Programs, providing family support and parenting services to low-income families with young children.  She has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Loyola University Chicago and master’s in social work from the University of Washington.
