Veteran Parents Share Their Stories

In Washington State, there are approximately 10,000 children in foster care, and about half of all children placed into foster care will be reunified with their parents. These parents – often called Veteran Parents – have very moving stories that are particularly empowering for parents who have recently lost custody of their own children. When a parent loses a child, seeing someone who has walked in their shoes and succeeded can be extremely motivating.

Listen to a few stories of success in the video below – a collaboration between the Department of Social and Health Services, Eastern Washington University and members of the Spokane Parent Advocacy Network.
